Week 1 Day 3: Where my endorpins at??

Today's run SUCKED.

The wind was blowing against me & it was hot as ballz.

I got in a tiff with P right before my run which made me think the anger would push me a little extra but maybe it was just distracting.

I was dying halfway through & just kept thinking, "ok, we've done this twice before, any minute now those endorphins will kick in you'll start to fly!" But they didn't. I went through that whole stinking run feeling like I was gonna fall over. But I guess the important part is that I did it? Right? Maybe?

Last night my stepdad was telling me, who's a running guru, that your first week is AWESOME & then the next couple of weeks really suck. You'll have to literally drag yourself out the door but then after that...addicted. So I'm hoping maybe I just hit that wall a little early. Which maybe means I'll get out of it early. OR I just remembered that I didn't go to bed until 2a last night & woke up with Soph at 7. Hmm, I'm thinking that might have something to do with it.

Do you get that 'superwoman' feeling every time you run???

Week 1 Day 3
Distance: 1.99mi
Walk Pace: 17:06/mi
Run Pace: 13:23/mi

  1. Uh, NO! Yesterday I did not feel like going, but sucked it up and went anyways. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. But I did feel good about it after I was done running. So glad I went. Today instead of running I had 'no pudge' brownies. I was happy with that choice as well. :) hehe.

  2. Nope some runs just plan SUCK!

Somedays you think the run will suck and it will be amazing!

Sometimes anger helps, but I find it just makes me distracted.

Don't give up, you will have a good run soon.

  3. i had a few runs last week that were AWFUL...i was just exhausted. but when that good run comes, you'll get that superwoman feeling back! (i'm hoping that superwoman feeling comes during my race this sunday!) and i like to tell myself that all the sucky runs are when i'm putting in all the hard work that pays off during the awesome ones =) keep going, one step at a time, and it will balance out! you're already lapping everyone else on the couch!

  4. ditto that some runs just suck. a bad attitude always makes a run harder for me, especially if its something personal (like bickering with my husband). but- they do get better! (and once in a while, one will still be miserable, but thats how it is with everything.)

  6. This is definitely normal. You'll have some good, some bad runs. Rest, food, and water play a huge role. I don't quite balance it all very well. Some days I don't drink enough water while other days, I don't have enough meat. Just one simple thing I try to keep in mind is making sure to have plenty of rest, water, and fuel to push you along. I once went with my friend to support her at a Triathlon. The night before, they all indulged in a pasta dinner. I thought YUM! Makes sense though...those muscles will need food and if you're going to run for more than a mile your body will need fuel. A good solid 8 hours of sleep (I barely hit 7 a day...I know it's hard), good food to fuel, and daily stretches to condition the body. Personally I enjoy running on the weekends simply because I get more sleep and nothing gets in the way of my focus. Keep your eye on the goal and try every technique (from stretches to the perfect time of day to focus on your run) out there until you find what is right for you!

  7. Nope... some days are just like that, but don't let them get you down. Remember each day is a new day, and see where your adventure takes you.

  9. I started this program yesterday after seeing your post and I'm starting to really get into it. Also, Disney Princess Marathon YES! The 1/2 Marathon also has a 5K and that's at the end of February. My friends and I are already talking about flying down for those races and meeting our goals!

  11. Yay for running! I am so glad that you have this cute blog to talk about running. Runners can never talk about running too much and I am one of those. I started running about 3 years ago and thought I would hate it, really. But I am crazy about it now. If I don't get some kind of run in I go stir crazy and think about it all day.
There will be bad running days, and days that it takes everything you have to get out the door and run, but the days that are good make up for every bad day :)
Good for you and Keep it Up!
